In comes my new Ghibli, 2014 base model. For some reason I was not enamored with the Ghibli after I got some miles behind my belt in it. Unfortunately, back in 2014 when the car was new, there was not many options and Fabspeed had yet to develop Ghibli parts. So, I waited and held out until Fabspeed started developing products for the Ghibli and I was one of the first in line when they launched their products. I have everything including the ECU Tune on my Ghibli and I am absolutely satisfied. I am now officially "thrilled" to drive the car. Some things that I have noticed:
1. I have a SprintBooster installed in my car and the tune from Fabspeed erases any notion of throttle lag whatsoever. When I picked up my car I actually had to fly back from Philly and my sweet little wife drove back to DC. I had to tell her to be careful because the throttle is sensitive now in sport mode and you can be doing 80 in a heartbeat.
2. Sound - I test drove a GrandTurismo this past Saturday and the Ghibli sounds just a throaty. I am not saying that I am ready to take on a GT, but I will say that the Ghibli now sounds like it deserves to be parked next to one and accepted into the family. The original exhaust was nice, but I was told that it sounded comparable to the new Nissan Maxima/Infinity. Damn! I drive a Maserati, I haven't driven and owned a Nissan in years! You do not want to hear this as a Maserati owner. I liked the original sound, but I love the current sound. I have included a link to a soundclip below. The clip does not quite do the car justice. If you are in the mid-atlantic region and would like to hear the car let me know and I can make arrangements to make it happen. I have had several Ghibli owners and a few owners of other vehicles come up to me and ask what in blazes have I done to the car. I went to Maserati of Washington in Sterling, Virginia last weekend and a few folks checking out the Ghibli asked for contact information for Fabspeed and I greatly passed it on.
3. Performance - As I've said, the throttle response is very good. You can tell the difference immediately. The turbos spool up really nicely and the engine wants to take off. You can definitely feel the power. One thing to note, I was not too impressed with the rolling speed prior to the upgrades. When you pull up in traffic and you want to overtake a car that is rolling at 60 or 70mph it did not seem to want to respond, or the response was late. Now, you have to be careful not to be doing 90 when you press hard on the gas. I can really feel the torque and the "want to" when I get up in the higher speeds. It keeps pulling and digging for RPMs the harder you press on the gas pedal.
4. Misc. - No check engine lights or other problems two weeks after the install of everything. The installation looks tight and absolutely professional and unless you are a car person, you cannot tell that the system is aftermarket. It really blends with the appearance of the vehicle. The doorhandles and badges are shiny chrome and the exhaust tips continue that them out the back end of the vehicle.
So, in short this is just my humble opinion based on my personal experience with this product. I am happy with it and would not change a thing at this point. I will say that when I took the car to Fabspeed it had a little over 2k miles on it (purchased in June 2014). I am pushing 6K miles currently because I am having fun driving it before it gets too cold out.
