I got the Fabspeed X pipe Supersport exhaust. WOW!! It sounds amazing and is a real head turner. The stock exhaust just wasn’t doing it for me, and the Fabspeed exhaust really made my Audi R8 sound like a true exotic. From start up you hear a wicked rev, and when accelerating it sounds like a Indy car, but my favorite is the downshifts……. I listened to a lot of videos online to try to help make my decision, and i made this video to try and help others. But from first hand experience, the videos really don’t do the sound justice, even the video i made. You will just have to see for yourself…. Sounds like some people worry about neighbors, with the exception of at cold start, when you want to be quieter just go easy on the throttle.
Not only was the upgrade relatively easy to do, I had the help of a great friend, and with the posts here, online videos, and PDF instructions I found, it went without a hitch. We did it over just a couple of days, but total time spent (and we were going very slowly just to be careful) was about 8 hours. Best part (besides the obvious sound enhancement) was a much better understanding of how the car is put together and how easy it is to work on. I wanted increased sound and presence, and didn't want to bother with the valved exhausts since this isn't a daily driver. In other words, I always want the sound! That said, when cruising, this exhaust is quiet with just a little extra rumble that wasn't there before. Still easy to have a conversation with a passenger or be on the phone when cruising. In fact even standing behind the vehicle after the cold start cycle, you can easily have a conversation without raised voices. Even with the "loud pedal" down, it's never harsh. The sound itself is amazing! A nice rumble, but it let's character of the V10 shine. Definitely far better than stock and really turns heads. Just on a couple of quick test rides, I got lots of waves and thumbs up.
I love the sound of the new exhaust, it is sooooooo much better and throttle response picked up too.
Big thumbs up to Fabspeed! The exhaust sounds similar to a gallardo, slightly louder with a deep growl! I'm so impressed with the quality and sound is simply amazing! It definitely gives the R8 more personality. I can't stop driving my R8. Love the way it roars!
There are a ton of options for the R8 V10. Many are valved systems, and of course this is not. I see that as a plus, not a minus. This system has a perfect volume, loud enough to enjoy but not obnoxious, really no need for valves (it's lighter and less complex, nothing to fail). Just drive and enjoy! High quality stainless, great fitment, great sound, great price. Win-win-win-win.
The exhaust sounds amazing, and since getting it I have been getting non-stop compliments on the street of people telling me how good the exhaust sounds! The videos posted do not do justice. I have heard many exhausts ranging from Akrapovic to Stasis, and this is hands-down the best in my opinion and priced very aggressively compared to the rest.
AWESOME - looked at them all, almost went with Capristo but ultimately went with this system and couldn't be happier - great sound that this car really needed - other systems are often 2x the $ with valving options, however, if you speak with people that have them they seem to only leave it on the open/loud mode so why bother? HIGHLY RECOMMEND. YOU CAN GO TO BLACKFOREST INDUSTRIES OF CARY, NC'S WEBSITE TO SEE AND HEAR THE SYSTEM.
