Improved engine speed at higher revs, great sound, excellent build quality and fit. For any European or R.O.W buyers with any quality concerns over buying USA products over the established European manufacturers don't believe the hype! We have tracked virtually all of them from Europe and had plenty of "quality" products that have failed. But not Fabspeed, never had a failure across many 964, 993, 996 and know Cayman S products. Great design, great grades of SS, quality cat cores all welded together both skillfully and effectively. Well worth the asking price and delivers on all fronts. I shall remain a long term customer. Having owned a 981 Spyder whose sound is nothing short of epic, I really felt let down by the optional Porsche Sports Exhaust on the 987 Spyder. Initial impressions upon receipt of these new headers was that they certainly pass the looks test...the workmanship is top notch, as is the fitment. I had high expectations in this department given their reputation in the Porsche community, and they were met. What I didn't expect was the outcome...to put it bluntly, this is how the car should have come from the factory. It is an utter transformation when the PSE is activated, giving more heart and soul in a manner that compliments and amplifies the signature sound vs. altering it like you would see with most aftermarket applications. Even the sudden rain on the inital test drive couldn't dampen my stupid grin with every mile post-install. If you have a 987 with PSE, and you don't have these installed, consider eating noodles for a month if necessary to enable it.
I retained the tone of the OEM PSE exhaust but took overall sound volume quite a step up. With PSE 'Off', levels are ductile and fine for normal cruising. PSE 'ON' creates the screaming I was looking for starting a low RPM and building for a loud crescendo. No drone in either mode and still sounds Porsche-ish flat 6. Very pleased overall and met my goal.
I purchased the sport cat headers for my Cayman R. The LH header weighs 4.5 lbs less than stock and the RH header weighs 3.5 lbs less for a total weight savings of 8 lbs. The only tricky part of the install was finding a 1/4" drive swivel Torx E12 socket to tighten some of the bolts. A six sided 10mm socket also worked but is not ideal. The tool clearances are less than stock but the primary tubes are so much straighter and better flowing than stock that it is worth it. The increased mid range torque feels good. Combined with Carnewall muffler mod and Fabspeed dual tips the exhaust sounds great!
